W-What is this?
Microneedling is a common skin resurfacing procedure done in the office that involves tiny surgical steel needles that pierce the top layer of skin to improve the quality of the skin, texture, and appearance by harnessing the normal healing process that follows skin injury and reduces fine lines, wrinkles and acne scarring. To truly optimize the microneedling session the right topical nutrients need to be applied during and post-procedure. Here at Mercy Grace, we use the Ante AGE MD Microneedling solution during the procedure that contains growth factors and cytokines then the patient is sent home with the Ante AGE MD After Care System to use while healing from the microneedling session.
H-How does this work?
The first things first, is your skincare provider will deeply cleanse the skin to make sure all the dirt and oil is removed then applied a topical numbing to the face. Next, the numbing cream will be removed and the aesthetician will begin the procedure. A glide must be used so the needles don’t drag on the skin, here at Mercy Grace we use a high molecular weight hyaluronic acid to give the added benefit of hydration and anti-aging effects. The aesthetician decides the depth at which the needles will penetrate, but that can range from 0.5mm to 1.5mm. This is based on a number of factors like the client’s skin texture, the skin resilience and the area of the face the aesthetician is working on. Now one thing to keep in mind, is that deeper does not mean better results. What we are looking for is “pinpoint bleeding”. Once pinpoint bleeding is achieved in the treatment area this will trigger a wound-healing response. The skin is now naturally stimulated to regenerate and new elastin and collagen are formed. Once pinpoint bleeding is achieved, then we applied the AnteAGE MD growth factor and cytokine solution now that micro channels have been created in the skin. This will allow the solution to penetrate deep in the skin for optimal effect. This will help with redness and the recovery process. For the first 24 hours that will is your skin will be the reddest. Most of the redness subsides after 48 hours but it takes about 5-7 to fully heal after the treatment. Ideally you want to do 4 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks to have the most effect. But you will notice a significant improvement your skin just after one treatment.
Y- Why is this important to you?
Microneedling is designed to stimulate your body’s own healing response. So, this will help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars. It can also help with sun damage and improve skin elasticity. Lines and acne scars can be difficult to get rid of so microneedling is a great solution! Always discuss your medical history and goal with your skincare provider to see if microneedling is right for you!
