What is Dermaplaning?

How it works is your licensed professional with take a No. 10 surgical scalpel (sounds much scarier than it is) and hold it at a 45-degree angle and begin scraping to remove the outer layer of skin which contains hair and dead skin. There are two ways to do dermaplaning wet or dry. With wet dermaplaning a skin care oil is applied first to allow the scalpel to glide more easily across the skin but dermaplaning can also be performed dry with no topical products. The procedure is painless and the best part is when you see the cotton at the end with all of your dead skin and hair. It is so satisfying. Dermaplaning can be done as a standalone procedure but most of the time it is added on to a facial or chemical peel.
