What causes acne?

Acne can be caused by excess sebum that clogs the pores. There can be serval triggers such as hormones, diet, skin type, and even stress.

How do I figure out my skin type?

Skin can be classified into a couple different categories. Normal, dry, oily, combination and sensitive. If after 30 minutes your skin appears shiny throughout, you likely have oily skin; if it feels tight and is flaky or scaly, you likely have dry skin; if the shine is only in your T-Zone, you probably have combination skin; and if your skin feels hydrated and comfortable, but not oily, you likely have normal skin; if your skin is reactive to products and gets easily irritated then you likely have sensitive skin.

How often should I get Botox?

Every 3-4 months

What does retinol even do?

Speeds skin cell turnover and boosts collagen production.

Is PRP microneedling better?

We actually prefer microneedling with AnteAGE growth factors and cytokines. The reason people like using PRP (platelet rich plasma) is because it contains growth factors, the problem is as we age our body’s nature growth factors decline radially. Also, this allows us to bypass having to draw the patients’ blood (because no one likes getting there blood drawn) and you actually get better results because you going straight to the growth factors and it will create less of an inflammation response compared to PRP!

How can I get rid of blackheads?

A great thing to do to help get rid of blackheads is a chemical peel. This is because chemical peels, especially those that use salicylic acid, help to exfoliate the skin and unclog affected pores, giving you a clearer complexion.

What is a Fitzpatrick skin type?

As skincare professionals we use a scale called the Fitzpatrick scale. This is a scale to indicate a person’s skin response to UV. It ranges on a scale from 1 to 6. For example, some who burns very easily and never tans would be considered a Fitzpatrick 1 or 2 and on the flip side someone who is darker, never burns and tans super easily would be considered a Fitzpatrick 5 or 6. Of course there are other considerations in determining someone’s Fitzpatrick type but that is the basis of the scale.

How long does it take to start seeing results from a skincare product?

Unfortunately, results do not happen overnight. It depends but usually you can start seeing results in a little as one month or it can take 3-6 months of consistent use.

What does active skincare ingredients mean?

Actives are ingredients that are scientifically proven and designed to effectively target and bring about changes in your skin at a cellular level. Some examples are hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and Vitamin C

For exfoliation do you recommend facial scrubs or chemical exfoliants?

I like them both for different reasons! But you just need to be careful with facial scrubs because some can be too rough, especially sugar scrubs or ones made with big beads. These can cause micro tears in the skin and actually enlarge your pores over time. I do like to use a facial scrub in the shower because it feels nice and refreshing, like using a chemical exfoliant toner occasionally to help smooth and brighten my skin.
